HI Trail Finder Friends.I have a lot of fun writing the newsletters for our club. Describing the snow conditions at times takes a bit of creativity. I typically write them and our President Brandon Christensen edits them and adds all the beautiful pictures to bring our stories to life. Then Tammy Davenport our Web Master takes the old letters down and archives them on our TTF web site and puts up the new newsletter. It’s a bit of a joint effort but much fun is had letting people know whats happening on the Mountain.We have had some warm weather that has shrunk the snow pack in the upper elevations from 79” to 71”. The forecast for the next 10 days has the temps dropping significantly by Monday the 4th of February down to single digits for the overnight lows and the mid 20’s for day time highs. It appears there should be daily snow accumulations building over the next ten days. One may want to layer up as it’s going to be cold!
On the serious side of Life. We have had a couple of complaints of trespass onto private land on the lower trail system leading down to the McDougall area. Our Club goes to a great deal of effort to attain permission from private landowners to allow the TTF Club to have a trail running through various private parcels along the trail system. Without the private landowners granting permission to allow the public to ride our snow machines through their properties many would be trailering their sleds to the upper snowparks to launch for the day. It may be temping to go outside the boundaries of the clearly marked trails to hit a sweet powdery meadow but we all need to refrain from doing so. If you see anyone venture onto private land outside the the trail system whether it’s a friend or family member you need to call them out as we are very much in danger of being locked out on the lower trail around McDougall. It’s not unique to the lower trails. There is a big meadow near our clubhouse that has several signs posted to keep on the trail or risk being locked out. The other day I was riding down the trail and 4 snowmobiles cut across the meadow right in front of one of the keep out signs. Education is the only way to prevent this from happening. We must be respectful of private and public land or we WILL be locked out. There are literally thousands of acres to ride on public land on our mountain, there is no need to spoil it for everyone by breaking the rules. Please stay on the marked trails on private land… It only takes one landowner to withdraw access along a trail and that trail is forever plugged.Be responsible.. friends down let friends break the rules.

McCall Winter Get Away
We’re getting closer to our snowmobile and side x side trip to McCall Idaho. There isn’t a prettier place on earth than McCall and our club is sponsoring a snowmobile/ Side x Side trip to this paradise the weekend of February 9th and 10th. Most of us plan to leave the 8th and return the 10th or 11th.McCall has great dining and night life and the side x side ride to Burgdorf should be a blast. Bring your swim suit and we’ll soak in the hot springs at Burgdorf! Brandon Christensen knows the area well and will lead the snowmobile portion of the ride. Those of us who have ridden with Brandon know at the end of the day you’ll have a big smile on your face. Bob Smith plans to lead the UTV portion of the ride. Plan to bring enough gas to ride approx. 75 miles. You’ll need to purchase an Idaho snowmobile sticker. In the past we have purchased them at the local grocery store. It’ll be a great weekend to remember for the rest of the year. FYI…for lodging most of us are renting VRBO’s. If you have any questions feel free to Email Bob Smith at bob.outback76@gmail.com.
Feb 9). Kids Safety Class.Andy Milar has graciously agreed to put on another “Kids Safety Class” at the TTF club house 10:00 am-2:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to get your young person certified in the state of Oregon to ride the trails on a snowmobile legally. It also educates the kids on safety and the rules and etiquette of riding the trails and back country. You need to be a TTF or OSSA member or sign up to be a member and the class is free.
Mar 2). Kolby Christensen is leading our annual kids ride. Plan to meet at the Club house at 9:00 am. Kolby led the ride last year and it was a blast. The parents had as much or more fun than the kids! There is no lunch provided so BYOL and D’s. It will probably wrap up around 3:00 to 3:30 pm.
Mar 2). General Meeting.. 5:00 P.M…Elections and Steak out.There are 6 Executive Board Member seats up for election this year. We encourage anyone who is interested in helping lead our club to get involved and run for a board position. You have to be a member in good standing to serve on the board.
