This month our grooming stats are as follows: 462 miles
80 hours spent grooming
528 gallons of fuel burned
7 trees removed from the trail
5 hours labor on maintenance
648 miles driven to/from mountain
15 hours driving to/from mountain
Considering we were down for one week due to warm weather and rain, we had to play catch up and ended up with a good month grooming, especially the last week when we had fresh snow and cold temperatures.
Starting the month of March, we are facing warm temperatures again, and rain. So far the snotel sites, I have seen 1.5 inches of rain and a high at the Milkshakes of 44 degrees. The High Ridge snotel site has had 1 inch of rain so far and a high of 47. Unlikely we will be grooming this week, even though the temperatures will be falling at night, but still be above freezing during the day with snow/rain mix.
I was notified yesterday that some snowmobiles have been in the Horseshoe Prairie Nordic Ski Area, so please stay out of this area.
I was on the mountain yesterday to check the grooming shed and snow conditions. The snow is very wet, slushy on top, and it was 45 at the grooming shed. Hopefully we will see these temperatures drop so we can resume grooming.
I sure to appreciate the flexibility of our grooming drivers to groom when conditions are good.
Thanks
