I was up on the mountain Monday of this week to work on Snow Cats with Allen, and check trails. We serviced the 2020 CAT and inspected all components on both snow cats, checking frames for cracks. Both snow cats are in good shape and ready to groom when we get more snow.
I took the V-K out and rode inner trails from the store to Woodland, around Baldy. The trails are smooth and flat and don’t need any grooming. I also talked with Cecil as he stopped by the groomer shed, and he also said the outer trails to Ruckle and Bone Springs were still smooth, the best they had been this year. The dusting of snow on Sunday and sunshine Monday afternoon when we were up there allowed for lubrication on the slide rails of the V-K, and no heating problems as the V-K is fan cooled. There have been many reports of overheating due to the hard snow and also hi-fax slide rail overheating has been an issue. We have also had reports of people finding themselves in scary situations where they are sliding out of control on the ice. Most areas of the state are having the same problem as people are looking for fresh snow to ride. There is some snow in the forecast for the end of the week, but not much accumulation.
Do your snow dance! We need more to groom and good safe riding conditions.
